For the Trade:  a Collaborative Approach

Timeline
Budget awareness

I review each inquiry personally and respond within 2–3 business days.

I collaborate with interior designers and architects to fabricate custom furniture for residential and select commercial projects. My role is to translate design intent into structurally resolved, materially coherent work that integrates precisely within the broader project vision.

As a single-maker studio, I undertake a limited number of commissions annually.

Specification & Documentation

Projects may begin from completed drawings or early-stage concepts. Where required, I assist in refining proportion, joinery strategy, and material selection.

Each commission includes a formal estimate outlining material and finish specifications, fixed pricing, and projected lead time.

A $500 design and development fee applies to projects requiring original concept work. This fee is credited toward the final build and waived when complete shop drawings are provided.

Physical finish samples are available upon request.

Production

Following approval and a 50% deposit, materials are sourced and the project enters production.

Work is executed primarily in domestic hardwoods, incorporating shop-sawn veneers where appropriate for stability and grain continuity.

Construction emphasizes:

  • Traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery

  • Structural allowances for seasonal movement

  • Deliberate grain selection

  • Low-sheen finishes designed to age well

Typical lead time: 8–14 weeks, depending on scope.

Delivery & Installation

Within 1.5 hours of Kitchener, Ontario (including the GTA and Waterloo Region), I oversee delivery and installation. For projects beyond this region, white-glove freight and coordination can be arranged.

Investment

Most projects begin in the mid four-figure range, with pricing determined by scale, complexity, and material selection. Trade pricing is available for registered professionals.
